To Bet Or Not To Bet? Do You Have What It Takes To Be A Happy, Healthy Gambler?

Filed under: Gambler Den — admin at 11:36 am on Thursday, April 30, 2009

I placed my first bet when I was at university. I did not do it to make money, that was just a by-product of what I was really after - the thrill.
You see, my first bet was for a total of 50 pence and if it won it was only going to make me 4 or 5 times my investment, but after placing it I felt a rush unlike any other. I was now in direct competition with the bookmaker and I wanted to beat him.

It just so happens that I lost.

I had just challenged a seemingly unbeatable force and lost, but I felt great. Just to have tried was enough to fill me with a great sense of satisfaction, and even though it took me another 5 bets before I won, after each loss I still felt good about myself.

I still place bets today and I still get that same feeling. I have gained experience, I have gained knowledge and as a result my bets are slightly higher these days, but that’s only as part of the battle I fight against the bookmaker. I still don’t care much about the money; I only increase my bet size as a defiant message to the bookmakers saying that I will not be broken. Because after all, isn’t that what they are trying to do?

They have no morals, no sense of right or wrong, all they want to do is squeeze every last drop of money you have as fast as possible and leave you to clean up after you have given them that very pleasure. I have not given them that pleasure.

We all know that gambling can be very addictive, but it does not need to be. All it needs is the right mentality, a positive mentality.

Even when I lose I still count myself a winner. The bookmaker has got my money but I have something that they will never take from me; my self control. To lose this to them would ultimately lead to financial disaster and I am not willing to allow this.
As long as I am in control over my bets I still have the upper hand; they may win many a battle but they will never win the war.

If everyone were to bet like this then the bookmakers would lose. They would have lost the only thing that keeps them going - their superiority over us. To have a strong mind in tough situations, to take a loss on the chin and still come out fighting are priceless qualities and gambling could very well help you achieve these properties.

I know that I am a stronger person for it. I have great confidence in myself now, knowing that I am always going to be in control. Nobody can make me feel small because I am in control.

This is how to bet; bet with your head not with your heart. Be smart not foolish. If you aren’t having fun when you bet, then do not do it; if you cannot realise that winning isn’t everything then you, my friend, are destined to lose your own personal war with the bookmakers and I would hate to see that happen.

Four Tips for Online Poker - Tells, Mixing it Up, Preflop Rasies and Changing Gears

Filed under: Gambler Den — admin at 9:28 am on Thursday, April 30, 2009

Tip One: Mix Up Your Play: Once you have mastered the fundamentals of a
particular game (for the purpose of this article we’ll use No Limit Texas
Hold’em) it’s very easy to lapse into predictable play. This is particularly
true when playing online. While live casinos are literally designed to keep
people involved and stimulated, your home or office most likely has the opposite
effectwhich can lead to just “playing by the book.” If you find yourself
playing robotically: failing to adjust your play to the table, failing to notice
the tendencies of each player, making moves without asking yourself “what am I
trying to accomplish?”, then it may be time to tweak your game a bit. Instead
of waiting for Queens, Kings or Aces, raise with a 7/2! Not only will it help
get you out of your funk, but it’ll also keep your opponents off balance.
Tip Two: Online tells: The most reliable tells in online poker revolve
around betting speed. The easiest ones to pick up are the “dramatic pause”
tells. A long pause followed by a bet usually means the player is
strong
and wants you to think he is weak. A long pause followed by a
check
usually indicates a weak hand. This player either wants you to
check so he can get a free card, or wants you to think he has a strong enough
hand to “think” about betting. You’ll rarely be check-raised by anyone who took
a long time to check, it’s not a normal betting pattern. When check-raising most
players want everything to look as normal as possible to help make sure you’ll
put in a bet before they spring the trap. If you do get a check-raise from a
player who paused heavily before the original check, be very careful. You
should also watch for instantaneous bets and raises on the turn and river. This
usually indicates a powerhouse hand and an attempt to get you to call by
intimidating you into it.
Tip Three: Limpin’ Ain’t Easy: Although this applies to
both live and online play, we see it so often in online poker games that it had
to be included: don’t limp when you’re the first to enter a pot! The logic
behind this tip us that since you have no money involved in the pot, if you fold
you lose nothing. Therefore, if you’re going call you had better have a hand
that expects to earn moneyand if your hand is a favorite, you should raise. In
addition, you will also stop giving away valuable information about the hands
you are playing (astute players will quickly divide your holdings into raising
and calling hands). By raising every time you enter a pot, you reveal the
minimum amount of information possible. (It should also be noted that in
Hold’em there a number of hands that are not worth a call, but are worth a
raisehowever, that’s another article.) In short, the best way to think about
this rule is that if a hand is not strong enough to raise with, it is not strong
enough to call with.
Of course, in poker, there is an exception to every rule. If
for instance, you’re holding Aces and you know that the maniac to your left will
raise if you limp in, then by all means, limp away. However, this play is a
much more advanced move and you had better know what you’re doing before you try
it. Not only do you risk wasting a big pocket pair, but you may easily end up
going broke if your opponent limps behind you and makes two pair on the flop
with a K,5.
Tip Four: Short-Handed Play: Most likely, a good number of the
tournaments you’ll be playing online will be Sit-and-Go’s (9-handed games that
begin as soon as 9 players signup to play.) When playing Sit-and-Go’s you’ll
inevitably be faced with short-handed play (or at least you hope you will be).
When playing short-handed, aggression is key. I’m sure you’ve seen it before:
the game gets down to three or four players and suddenly the guy on your right
is going nuts! He’s raising, re-raising, and completely dominating the game. To
the beginner, or to those inexperienced in short-handed play, this wild-man
appears to have just thrown caution to the wind. He finally shows down a hand
and he’s holding K,9! However, he probably won the handand he probably stole a
bunch o’ blinds before that. So what’s his trick? Aggression. A complete
poker player must learn to play a solid aggressive game. It’s simply not enough
to sit back and wait for good cards during 9/10 handed play, only to fall apart
when you’re close to the big money spots. For example, have you seen T.J.
Cloutier at a final table? He’s about as tight as they come until he reaches
short-handed play. That’s when he comes out firing. He does this because he
knows that if he doesn’t, someone willand then it’ll be him getting run over
and not the other way around.
I know this tip may make you a little uncomfortable if you’re
generally a tight playerbut believe me, once you learn to enjoy short-handed
play it’s probably the most fun you’ll have a poker table.

Zimmer Durom Cup Lawsuits Is Sad News

Filed under: Health Improvement, Hints, Lawyers Network — admin at 5:23 am on Saturday, April 25, 2009

Many people who experienced Durom hip cup implants used in their hip replacement surgical procedures are witnessing that there are difficulties that far surpass the typical expectations for recovery. These unfortunate people are feeling a lot of uncalled-for pain for longer time periods, facing revision surgical procedures and magnified medical costs, and losing income by not physically being able to work at their normal jobs. Although Zimmer Holdings, Inc. is claiming that that their hip replacement implant is in no way faulty and not to be held accountable for the surgical failures, many people are filing cases against them and encountering settlements.

During the month of October, 2008 Zimmer announced that it had set-aside $47.5 million to pay for lawsuits they had received. Many physicians are not 100% convinced that the hip device is not faulty as the company has suggested. In fact, when Zimmer tendered online training to surgeons in order to teach them what was supposedly more accurate techniques for executing the implant operation, approximately half of the MD’s declined to take part. Therefore, the whole state of affairs proceeds to be nerve-racking for all parties involved, but none more than the hundreds of patients who are looking forward to revision operation due to the problems with their implant not staying secure in the socket.

These troubled poor people definitely deserve some aid and compensation which is why product liability lawyers are supporting them by telling them to start the filing of lawsuits. durom letter has been paying some of these claims, too. Still, even if the settlement they are being offered sounds like alot to them, in numerous cases poor people are deciding too quickly and with no provision or allowance put in place for on-going problems if they happen down the road. If they don’t wait to find out what cases are actually going to be worth, individuals may find themselves incurring alot more expenses out of their own funds when further complications return.

For anyone who realizes they probably have a claim against Zimmer needs to start peering into it. If you think you could qualify, you should probably visit a attorney to find out for sure. Look for one that operates countrywide and that focuses primarily on litigation against faulty medical devices. This law firm has even set up a special division to do the research and process claims against Zimmer and win substantial settlements for their customers.

If your orthopedic surgeon updates you with bad news that you will definitely have to undergo a revision surgical process to resolve your Zimmer Durom hip replacement device, call an attorney as soon as humanly possible.

Votive Candles Tea Light Candles Everywhere, Any Time

With spring in the air or possibly winter soon fading now is the time to put away the sweaters with take away the flip flops! It is furthermore the time to overhaul & modernize whether it be yourself & your house. Aromatic 1 are an exciting approach to usher in a new season. It’s sure to be time to put away those pumpkin spice & pine perfumed Scented Candles and accept the fragrances of its season. Florals or fruity essence are likewise what you should smell at this time. Along with both flurry coming through one’s house, the Sweet-smelling candle flavour will probably afloat all over the condo. They can be found greatly welcoming when mingling throughout the spring times. When your festivity begins to move outdoor, providing floating candles to a decoration is a definite fire way to add additional aura. Floating 1 come in so many patterns & sizes, in spite of this my favored are the floral figured ones. Floating several bigger pieces in and around a swimming pool or perhaps duck pond take back memoirs of cotillions or prime affairs of moments gone by. Votivo candles could sometimes be put to use in the slot of Positioning candles. Make certain to operate the votivo candle out of its hardware box so that it can glide properly. By the summer months allowing people to host open-air & reside garden candle care will shift. One comment of help nevertheless, as acquiring candle holder for utilization in the outdoors make sure that these are also no cutouts, alternatively you can be found back to square one with some 1 going out faster than Bday 1 on a 1 year olds birthday celebration. These will often work in the inside or perhaps mild after hours but not if there is a little blow? A further option on all these nights is to use electronic candles.

5 Texas Holdem Tips!

Texas hold Em tips!

Texas Holdem Tip #1

Don’t Fall In Love With Your Start

Another very hard lesson to learn. Who doesn’t find it nearly impossible to fold two queens, or AKs? Or even a pair of tens? Who doesn’t hate the idea of folding on the turn after flopping two pair? Or a set? Everyone wants to see these great starts to the river. Problem is, there are other people in the game. Though it may make your eyes light up when you get top pocket cards, or have three of a kind after the flop, these hands are no guarantee of winning. Failing to re-evaluate the strength of your hand at every step of the way is a sure way to lose a lot of money.

Texas Holdem Tip #2

Stop To Think

Too often players act without thinking, getting carried away by emotion instead of considering a bet calmly and rationally. This happens especially in live poker, where you may feel vaguely defined urges not to “be a coward,” “take a shot,” or “to go big.” These urges often are setting you up to lose. Texas holdem tip always, when confronted with a big decision, pause to review your reaction, your instinct. Very often our natural instincts need to be rerouted into poker instincts. For the beginner, this process involves a full stop, and an open-minded consideration of the situation. Good players feed on the “natural reactions” of the less skilled. So don’t react. Think.

Texas Holdem Tip #3

Consider The Pot

Something I often see, but will never understand, is players using all-in bluffs to win tiny pots. This, to me, is the height of bad poker playing. Pot odds are a huge part of the game. When you’re taking a risk, you want to be entirely sure you’ll be justly rewarded for it. That’s why some players can make a living at holdem. They know the odds, and know consistently staying in on gigantic pots, and quickly giving up small pots, will pay off in the end. This concept is closely tied to expected value (EV). These good players may lose the big pot nine out of ten times, but the tenth time more than pays for the other losses. Factor the current and potential size of the pot into every decision you make.

Texas Holdem Tip #4

Strong Players Bet Big On BIG Hands

This is why they’re strong players. If you’ve made your hand, and are up against a tight player who’s raising you big, take a good look at the board. Possible flush, straight, full house? Chances are she’s hit something. The best players bet big when chances are very slim that they can be beat. This means you should very often take their implicit advice and get out–especially as a beginner. Unless you’ve got the nuts, or near it, yourself, that is. In that case, raise the hell out of them.

Texas Holdem Tip #5

Be A Rock, Except…

This is the best texas holdem tip I can give you. Being a rock is a very good way to start out. Though it may seem unexciting to some, who long for the high-stakes stack-pushing (highly edited) drama of the TV-poker world, poker is a game of inches. A waiting game. Throwing 80% of your hands, at least, is the only way to win in multi-player games. Bet only on the best hands, semi-bluff very occasionally, and bluff almost never. This is a winning recipe against 90% of the poker players you’ll meet at low-limit tables. As a beginner, consider yourself a hunter sitting calmly in a blind, waiting hours for prey to fly overhead. If you go the other way, take your shotgun and go walking around in the jungle, very often you’ll get eaten by a lion.

Poker Psychology - The Secret Of Winning Big

Filed under: Gambler Den — admin at 4:25 am on Friday, April 24, 2009

Poker psychology is important because it separates average players from truly the great ones.

The person, who wins big simpy has a better psychology than his or her opponents and getting it right can make you huge money.

In poker (unlike other casino games) you don’t have to have the best hand to win, all you need to do is make people think you have the best hand!

Let’s look at what it takes to develop the right mindset to win big in online poker and how to develop the correct psychology for poker.

1. Desire

To win big at poker the first step is to want to win big. If you have the desire, you are likely to put in the hard work (and like anything in life that can make big money you need to put in the hours) that is required to become a really top poker player.

2. Learn from others

Once you know all the basic strategies and odds its time to read some books written by great poker players. They all have different approaches but they will all focus on poker psychology and you can learn from them.

In poker you never stop learning and it is good practice to read and study at least one book a month. Not only will you learn something new, but you will also get great motivation to purse your goal of winning at poker.

3. Check Your Opponents

Your opponent is studying you and you need to study him. You can then see the way he plays, spot potential weaknesses and exploit them. As we said earlier, the best hand doesn’t win at poker, the player with the best psychology and strategy does.

4. Have Courage

To win big pots in poker you need to have courage to take risks at the right time. This is not rashness, it’s an essential part of poker psychology and is the only way to win big money.

If you have done your homework and the circumstances are right you need to take the plunge and go for the pot!

5. Patience

It’s hard to keep folding one hand after another at times, but it’s what you have to do. If the circumstances are not right and you have no chance of winning the pot, don’t waste money wait. All great players know that it’s the hands you choose not to play that can be as important as the ones you do. So, be patient and your time will come.

6. Focus & Commitment

When you sit to down to play a game you need to be fully focused on the game. So, no drinking, drugs or feeling anything less than 100% focused and committed and all the former will impair your judgment.

If you don’t feel right don’t play, it’s as simple as that.

7. Practice

You can only learn so much from books. When you play money is at stake sometimes big money and this can and does affect peoples judgments

It takes a lot of playing experience to become a great poker player and it can’t be rushed. Take it slowly, moving up to more difficult tables and potential pots as you gain experience.

Don’t try a level above your capabilities to quickly. If there are big wiiings to be made at a table competition will be stiff.

The proper poker psychology as you can see is critical if you want to become a great player.

Reputable Dyslexia Clinics Help Dyslexic Kids and Adults Better than Typical Instructors

Filed under: Education Special, Health Improvement — admin at 1:47 pm on Sunday, April 19, 2009

By its simple definition, Dyslexia means trouble reading. More precisely, dyslexia would indicate that a person who is very smart in most areas, and that possesses the ability to learn and had the opportunity to do so, over time continues to show trouble reading.

It cannot at all indicate that an individual is slow or stupid, it’sexactly the opposite! By its very nature, Dyslexia exists in only those with at least average intelligence or better and especially in out-of the box thinkers. No matter how talented may be, they struggle learning to readlearn to read more slowly than most kids .

Figuring out whether a struggling reader has dyslexia typically begins with realization by parents or tutors that a significant challenge in learning to read exists. A pediatrician is sometimes the first-line diagnostician to evaluate the nature of the difficulty. The medical practitioner should figure out if the source of the reading problem by doing a general physical examination and obtaining a comprehensive health history. If necessary, the child could be referred for {a neurological examination. If dyslexia is thought to be the cause, the doctor should suggest the child for help with a speech-language pathologist or specific testing by a dyslexia testing specialist in psycho-educational diagnosis.

Despite the fact that you can find good dyslexia help in major metropolitan areas, it’sdifficult. Unqualified Scammers are marketing lies. Quite a few products are on the market as dyslexia fixes like “special” dyslexia contacts, glasses or colored reading overlays. If dyslexia tools like these address any condition, it’ssomething other than dyslexia, and could be a scam, it may very well be nothing.

The Purpose of Our Being

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin at 6:02 am on Sunday, April 19, 2009

Most people think that there is a higher meaning for our lives. They are correct, there is a purpose for our being. Lets start with Matthew 13:36 it says Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.” He answered, The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

Now it says at Romans 6:19 I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We must remember that we are made alive in Christ. Look at Ephesians 2:4 it says But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressionsit is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved through faithand this not from yourselves, it is the gift of Godnot by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Now look at verse 19 it says Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

It says in Philippians 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. I recommend reading the Book of 1Corinthians, but lets look at 1Corinthians 7:35 it says I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord. The Bible tells us in Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. The Bible speaks more on devotion in the book of Titus it speaks about devotion to doing what is good. Titus 3:8 it says This is trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

Now it says in 2Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. But I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “super-apostles.” I may not be a trained speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way.

In remembering what the purpose of our being is look at Luke 20:34 it says Jesus replied, The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given marriage, and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection. But in the account of the bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God Jacob, He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.

Jesus form everything in the earth, even us human beings. Being form by Jesus we need to understand what it says in 1 John 3:9, No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. Now if we look at Titus 2:11 it shows us again about God people. It says, For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

Evaluating Starting Hands In No-Limit Hold’em Tournaments

Filed under: Gambler Den — admin at 12:49 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2009

There are three main factors that influence how you should play your hole cards in No-Limit Hold’em Tournaments. They are: your position, the size of your chip stack, and the size of the blinds. As a basic rule you need to avoid marginal hands that appear playable pre-flop but which can lead to huge losses in a single pot. The classic starting hands that fall into this category would be any Ax lower than AQ where both cards are unsuited, any Kx unsuited lower than KQ, and low suited connectors.

The tricky aspect of no-limit hold’em both in a tournament structure and in a regular cash game is that these hands can also lead to the greatest rewards. They are extremely volatile, however, and much of the skill of no-limit is knowing how to recognize when that starting hand is a liability and when it could potentially break an opponent. This requires a great feel for the game after the flop. Naturally beginners lack this experience and nuanced understanding of the game, and so it is far safer for a novice to limit himself to playing premium cards only before the flop. The problem then becomes one of predictability - if you only raise with big pairs you are unlikely to get any action, and when you do get action you’re in trouble because the rest of the table clearly knows what you’re holding to begin with.

If you are one off the button or on the button you should loosen your restrictions and play more starting hands, including those marginal ones, provided no one else has entered the pot showing obvious strength. To vary your play effectively you should also consider raising with these hands as a semi-bluff tactic, but no more than one in four times.

Keep most of your initial raises down to between 75% and 100% of the pot. If you make it 3 times the size of the big blind to go that typically equals an 80% pot bet. This will protect you in case you get re-raised or called by stronger holdings. If there are limpers in front of you and you are going to raise then you need to make a significant bet, especially in no-limit where you have to make it punitive for other players if they intend to draw out. In that case you could raise as much as 6 times the big blind.

Have a healthy and watchful respect for strong-tight players who are rarely in hands, particularly if they play the hand out of position. If a player like this raises in early position you should fold all those marginal hands, and small pairs as well.

When weak players have entered the pot, you should be happy to call and take flops with them provided you can do this inexpensively. Slow playing big hands has a higher expected value in No-Limit than it does in Limit games where it is rarely the right way to play. That being said, it is a skill that takes a lifetime to master, and can easily backfire on you.

As the blinds increase in tournament play you must be flexible with your evaluation of starting hands as you have to keep your chip stack well ahead of the pace set by the blinds. Initially you should be tight at least until you have a good read on some of the opponents at your table. Try to avoid coin-flip scenarios where all your chips are at stake. This happens all the time in online tournaments where players feel comfortable going all-in on AK and equally comfortable calling that hand with any pocket pair.
