Hotels and motels serve a different purpose, but operate within the same industry. No matter if travelers select a hotel or a motel, the rooms may be similar, but there are a lot of differences. Motels are usually designed for short stays and include parking right outside the room. Typically, motels do not offer amenities like room service or breakfast.
Houston motels are almost always located on or right off of a main route and are often near restaurants that are open for extended hours. The layout is usually a pretty standard open or U shape, allowing you to peek out the window and keep an eye on your car. With hotels, there is no limit to what they can offer. While you can find hotels in the same budget as an Houston motel, the amenities offered will be much better. fitness room, irons, cable TV and major movie channels.
Aside from the price, the only major difference between a Houston motel and hotel is the purpose they serve. While you can stay for an extended period of time in a hotel, a motel is meant to serve you while you continue on your way.
